This project began as a layered, overgrown space — a collection of past ideas and tired features, from mismatched patios to fragmented zones.
The brief was clear: start fresh. Create something tranquil, imaginative, and easy to maintain. A space that would allow the clients to step outside and detach from the world.
With a modest budget of £8,000–£11,000, we focused on reimagining the garden as a refined retreat — inspired by the charm of fairy gardens, but tailored for adult serenity. A sanctuary where whimsy meets practicality.
We cleared the site completely, stripping it back to a true blank canvas. From there, the layout was designed to be purposeful yet flexible — a base that could evolve with the client’s vision over time through seasonal planting and personal touches.
Despite the constraints, we delivered a strong framework:
A newly installed area for entertaining or relaxing
A clear side path for access and flow
A bespoke gate for privacy and cohesion. A new level lawn. Archways to add separation.
This project demonstrates what can be achieved when thoughtful design meets purposeful restraint. For clients who want to make the most of their space without overextending, it’s proof that you don’t need a large-scale budget to create a meaningful lifestyle upgrade.

We called David to look at renovating our garden, which comprised of rotten decking and tired flagstones. He created a fantastic design that we absolutely loved and moved forward after getting a very reasonable quote. We decided to do the removal ourselves, and David was incredibly supportive in providing advice in how to do so. Once it was clear, he did another consultation and provided us with a final(and very reasonable again) quote and we moved forward. In the 11 days he took to complete our project he showed an incredible work ethic and the utmost professionalism. He almost single handedly turned a demolition site into a beautiful garden that we are proud to call our own.
His team of specialist labourers Phil and Andy, although only with us for a combined 3 days also did a stellar job and I could not recommend any of these 3 more highly. A team of lovely fellas.
As well as a man at the top of his trade, he’s also a top bloke and lovely to work with.
